#VALENCIA NEEDS US | Families from Catarroja and Alfafar receive the donations.

families from catarroja and alfafar receive donations from workout events

More than two months have passed since the DANA, considered the worst cold drop of the century, left its devastating mark on several towns in the Valencian Community. Although time has passed, the needs of many affected families and communities are still urgent and show that there is still work to be done to rebuild what was lost and recover normality.

With all the contributions we receive at Workout Events with the solidarity campaigncampaign, this Christmas we have been able to transform generosity into direct help to provide support and hope to two families affected by the disaster. Today we want to share their stories.

The story of AR, neighbor of Catarroja

AR is an 80-year-old woman who lived in her first floor apartment in Catarroja. She lost everything with the passage of the DANA: furniture, personal belongings, her car and her scooter, which was essential for getting around, as she has reduced mobility and an 85% handicap.

Since the disaster, AR has moved into her daughter’s house, which lacks an elevator, currently preventing her from going outside.

After learning about his situation, we at Workout had it clear and decided to allocate part of the donations to improve his quality of life. AR expressed her gratitude with a message full of emotion, since she will use “this gift from the Three Kings” to recover her home.

AV’s thank you letter, from Alfafar

AV is an octogenarian and shares an equally difficult situation. Floods destroyed her home and belongings, forcing her to move into her son’s apartment.

After receiving help from the solidarity campaign, his son sent us a deeply moving letter. We share part of it below:

For these two families, solidarity has become a helping hand to help them get through this difficult stage as far as possible.

Hot meals in affected areas

In the first days after the disaster, the villages devastated by the DANA in Valencia were in chaos: volunteers were cleaning streets and first floors of mud, while many families were still without water and electricity.

For this reason, one third of the donations received in our campaign were destined to collaborate with the Catering Business Association (AEC) y Sabors Cateringwho joined forces to cook and deliver hot food to everyone who needed it.

For our part, at Workout, we continue to believe in the strength of the community. In addition to thanking employees and friends of Workout for their personal contributions, we would like to mention the following: La Gabana Restaurant, BoccnDivino Restaurant, La Propaganda Restaurant, Benow Partners, Economical Auditores.

And many thanks to AR and AV, for being the best examples of resilience.
