Lucia has a somewhat ambivalent personality, because when it comes to work she is the most organized, serious and dedicated to budgeting for events, but when it comes to enjoying herself… She is the life of the party!
With Galician and Extremaduran ancestry, but born in Madrid and with a love for folklore, her personality is characterized by touches of both regions and by the feeling that this rhythm transmits. As cat-like as a Madrileña, as close as a Galician, as warm and cheerful as an Extremaduran and as unique as a Guadalupense!
During the interview we discovered a little more about Lucía, about her sensitivity, her talents and those tastes that without knowing why she is a little embarrassed to share.
“I’m not a person who on a day-to-day basis seeks to be in the limelight and I don’t like to brag about things either. Even though I don’t look like it, I’m shy.”
What did we discover that surprised us so much?
We discovered that she is passionate about the sea and everything that surrounds her, since she was a child she feels a special love for Galicia, her father’s land, its culture, its gastronomy and its estuary.
“I would love to be able to live near the sea, a little house next to the beach, have a boat, a sailboat, if possible, go sailing every day, fishing, diving… I love the sea and all the animals that live in it, the best experience of my life was swimming with dolphins in the open sea, I have never felt anything so special. Connecting with an animal, it was spectacular!”
Lucía’s professional life before she became the event budget manager at WORKOUT EVENTS.
As ambivalent as her personality are her tastes in terms of work, and although one can think about the incompatibility between the profession of makeup artist and administrative, these are the two areas that she is passionate about and in which she has developed.
“Before working I wasn’t very clear about what my vocation was, but I’ve never been a person who stops, so I started studying a course in accounting for SMEs, where I learned about administration, and later I went to work at Corte Inglés as a makeup artist.”
She got her job as a makeup artist thanks to her talent for drawing and painting, an art she learned from her whole family, since everyone in her family practices it.
In order to learn more and professionalize her talent, she studied the Superior Degree of Personal Image Consulting and thanks to this she started working with luxury brands. But it was not enough! She wanted to continue learning and combine her new studies with her administrative knowledge.
“I was already working as a makeup artist, but I was looking forward to an office job. To make the leap I had to start from scratch, so I agreed to do an internship in an office.”
Her work history as a clerk began at the Frank Provost and Jean Louis hairdressing salons, then she worked as an insurance clerk in a glass shop and shortly after, also handling insurance paperwork, in an auto repair shop… until she applied for an opening at WORKOUT!
How has been your path and evolution within WORKOUT EVENTS?
Shortly before joining WORKOUT, she began to study the ADE degree at the UNE, because despite having enough knowledge in the administrative area, she knew that this would help her to boost her professional career.
Lucia was very excited to work in the world of events, she found an opening for an administrative position at WORKOUT, she applied and was called for 1 interview… or 4.
“I think I was the only person to go through 4 interviews at WORKOUT before I was hired” (she laughs).
She joined WORKOUT as an Assistant in the administrative department, and her duties were based on budgeting staff for events and billing for services.
“I had all the necessary administrative knowledge to develop my job, but having no experience in the events sector, I had to study all the concepts and terminology. I learned a lot!”
When Lucía joined the company there was no budgeting department, the position was a hybrid and together with another colleague she managed invoices and budgets for events.
“As WORKOUT grew I specialized in doing estimates and my partner specialized in doing invoices, so it was best to decouple the departments and allow both to grow.”
She became responsible for the event budgeting department, which allowed her to structure it, create procedures, training for sales people, etc.
“A lot of the material that now exists in WORKOUT for training salespeople was born out of the event budgeting department.”
Lucía has worked to establish the foundations of her department and over the years she has helped and collaborated with all the departments that make up Workout: Commercial, operational areas(logistics, image, assembly, catering, security and auxiliary), administrative areas, etc.
Without a doubt, Lucia is a great partner and a better person!
